SLG

Slugging percentage — total bases per at-bat. Measures power output.

What SLG means

Slugging percentage weights each hit by the number of bases — a HR is worth four slug points and a single is worth one. Captures power but ignores walks.

How SLG is calculated

SLG = TB / AB

What counts as a good SLG

Higher is better — roughly .380 is poor, .420 average, .470 good, and .520 or better elite.
