wOBA

Weighted on-base average — combines every offensive event into one rate stat scaled like OBP.

What wOBA means

Each outcome (single, double, walk, HR…) is multiplied by its run value, then divided by PA. Reads like OBP — league average ≈ .320 — but is more accurate than OPS.

How wOBA is calculated

wOBA ≈ (.69·BB + .72·HBP + .89·1B + 1.27·2B + 1.62·3B + 2.10·HR) / (AB + BB − IBB + SF + HBP)

What counts as a good wOBA

Higher is better — roughly .290 is poor, .320 average, .350 good, and .390 or better elite.
