Elim
Rival wins and team losses still needed to knock the club out — the magic number reversed.
What Elim means
Also called the tragic number. It is the same countdown viewed from the other side: when it reaches 0 the club can no longer finish ahead. A club is out of the postseason race only when both routes are shut — eliminated from its division AND from the Wild Card — so a club buried in the Wild Card race while leading its division is not eliminated at all.
How Elim is calculated
Elim = (team wins + team games remaining) − rival wins + 1
