The purest bat-to-ball measure, because it holds pitch location roughly constant. League average is about 85%; under 78% is where swing-and-miss starts capping a hitter's floor.
What counts as a good Z-Contact%
Higher is better — roughly 80 is poor, 85 average, 89 good, and 92 or better elite.
