Max EV

Hardest batted ball in the window (mph) — a hitter's raw power ceiling.

What Max EV means

Where average exit velocity describes the typical ball, max EV describes the best one a hitter is physically capable of. It stabilises in far fewer batted balls than most contact metrics, which is why scouts read it early: a hitter whose max EV holds at 112 still has the power, even through a cold month of weak contact. A falling max EV, by contrast, is one of the earlier signs of a wrist or hand issue.

What counts as a good Max EV

Higher is better — roughly 107 is poor, 110 average, 112 good, and 114 or better elite.
